Installing Exchange 2010 Rollup Updates

RU5 is now out and I ran into a little snag getting it to install so wanted to post these steps.

1) Download the latest RU
2) Exit all EMS & EMC sessions
3) Disable ForeFront for Exchange with the following command: fscutility /disable
This command will not be in the path by default, so goto ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server>’ to run it
4) Remove any Interim Updates for Exchange (This is the step I missed that was causing Windows Update to fail to install the Rollup)
5) Install the RU
6) Re-enabled ForeFront: fscutility /enable
